Over 30 years of practice, with extensive experience in client interface, permit approvals, construction phase services, and project closeout.

Experience with building systems, building codes, detailing, and constructability.

Extensive experience with Construction Administration procedures with coordination of AE teams, Owner consultation, IOR coordination, AHJ interaction, Contractor submittals, Pay Apps, RFIs, Substantial Completion/Inspection and other typical CA tasks.

Deep knowledge of all OSHPD/HCAI procedures; ACDs, AMCs, CANs, PINs, OPMs, Professionals of Record, AMOCs etc.

I have worked closely with HCAI Office and Field staff continuously since 2006.

Submitted and achieved HCAI approvals for large incremental multi-phase projects.

Submitted over 500 ACDs to HCAI Field and Office staff.

I have worked closely with RCO’s, ACO’s, DSEs, FLSOs, IORs, and Owners to achieve Substantial Compliance for major Healthcare projects.

Experience:

As a consultant representing the Owner for design and construction projects, I have managed multiple projects concurrently at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center Oakland and Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland California.

Projects included a hybrid operating Room, the demolition of seismically noncompliant structure and the renovation of adjacent spaces to demolition, a chiller replacement, a major renovation of an operating central utility plant, and other smaller roofing and misc. maintenance projects < $2M.

At El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, I have worked on multiple projects including a behavioral health service pavilion - size 55,000 sq ft/5,109 sq m, a central utility plant upgrade & various “make-ready” projects.

At Chinese Hospital - San Francisco, we permitted and constructed a new tower with 79 beds, XRay/imaging dept, emergency dept., pharmacy, 4x ORs, 6x ICU beds - size 100,000 sq ft /9,290 sq m.

At Sequoia Hospital - Redwood City, I was the fulltime onsite Construction Architect managing a 104 bed pavilion addition, 8x ORs, 16x ICU beds, a new central utility plant, kitchen and dining renovation, seismic upgrades to 1950’s structures, and extensive exterior upgrades - size 162,730 sq ft/15,100 sq m

Other misc. healthcare projects include seismic and T.I. renovations at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, Salinas.

I have worked on multifamily housing projects Cinnabar Commons in San Jose 245 units, 300 Harrison Oakland 91 units, and 1 South park San Francisco 34 units.

I also spent time on large civic/transportation projects at San Francisco City Hall and Boarding Area A at the International terminal at SFO.

And in all these projects I have answered a lot of questions, resolved a lot of problems and drawn a lot of details.

You could say that my role could be summed up in five words: Solve Problems, Get Stuff Built.
